Well the year is near its end and what a year it’s been for the world of entertainment.  Although it has been full of ups and downs, I’m sure when people remember 2009, the unfortunate headlines will take the spotlight.

From petty squabbles that evolve into extreme cases of domestic violence concerning Chris Brown and Rihanna, to negative press because of inexcusable rude displays of arrogance from Kanye West.  And the deaths. Farah Fawcett, RIP, who died at the age of 62 to anal cancer.  Patrick Swayze, 57, the most recent celebrity victim died of pancreatic cancer.  Years from now, when everybody looks back, I am sure the main thing people will remember is the unfortunate death of the greatest entertainer of all time, Michael Jackson.  While that may be the case, I will choose to remember all of their legacies with equal importance, despite one having more impact on the world than others.

What amazes me though is the type of messages I see on forums, blogs, or just general discussions. Maybe it’s just because I have a certain respect for the dead, but I feel there should be a certain amount of respect even though you can only regard them as celebrities and nothing more. These people had loved ones and hearing/reading comments like “good riddance” or stating one person’s death is meaningless to another, is demoralizing to them.

I don’t know how else to pay respects to these people other than saying what I have been saying and that is how sorry I am for the losses of these people.  People that we grew up with in our household watching on T.V. or mimicking whenever we could.  Maybe a good way to pay respects is to educate and help make the information about the symptoms and treatments about the diseases that caused some of these deaths taking more accessible.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_cancer – Pancreatic Cancer is devastating to say the least and the mortality rate is extremely high.  This should be something people should read up on to help prepare themselves as much as they can.  Yes there are little ways known to prevent or halt this disease, but proactive methods such as clean living are sure to help the cause.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anal_cancer – Again doing whatever you can to keep a healthy living is vital in this day and age.

Again, all the losses we have experienced this year are equally impact-full in their own ways.  I choose to pay homage to their legacies and the positive influences these individuals had on our lives.
